DENTAL IMPLANTS IN MONROE, NC
a smile that lasts
WHAT WE DO
Missing a tooth affects more than your smile. It can make chewing harder, cause neighboring teeth to shift, and lead to bone loss in the jaw over time. At Bliss Dental in Monroe, NC, we offer dental implants as a long-term, natural-looking way to replace one tooth, several teeth, or support a more secure denture. Dr. Khushbu Patel has a special interest in implant dentistry and continues advanced training, including at the Kois Center in Seattle, so you get thoughtful planning and a gentle experience from start to finish.

What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small post, usually made of titanium, that is placed in the jawbone where a tooth root used to be. Once it heals and bonds with the bone, it acts as a sturdy foundation for a custom crown, bridge or denture. Because an implant replaces the root as well as the visible tooth, it feels and functions much like a natural tooth and helps preserve the bone around it.
Who is a good candidate?
Most healthy adults who are missing one or more teeth can be considered for implants. Good candidates generally have:
Healthy gums, or gum disease that has been treated
Enough jawbone to support an implant, or are open to bone grafting if needed
A commitment to daily brushing, flossing and regular checkups
Certain health conditions, smoking and some medications can affect healing. Dr. Patel will review your medical history, take digital X-rays and talk with you about whether implants are the right fit or whether a bridge or denture may serve you better.
The implant process, step by step
Consultation and planning: We examine your mouth, review imaging and map out a plan that fits your goals, timeline and budget.
Implant placement: The implant post is placed in the jaw using local anesthetic, so the area is fully numb.
Healing: Over the following months, the implant fuses with the bone. You can wear a temporary replacement in the meantime when appropriate.
Your new tooth: A custom crown, bridge or denture is attached and adjusted so your bite feels natural and comfortable.
Implants vs. bridges and dentures
Bridges and dentures are good options for many patients, and we offer both. Implants have a few unique advantages: they do not require reshaping healthy neighboring teeth, they help maintain jawbone, and they do not move when you eat or speak. Implants can also anchor a denture so it stays securely in place. We will walk you through the pros and cons of each option so you can make a confident decision.
Making implants affordable
We accept all major dental insurance plans and will help you understand what your plan may cover. For costs not covered by insurance, we offer financing through Cherry, Healthcare Finance Direct (HFD) and CareCredit, and we accept FSA and HSA cards. Members of our Bliss Wellness Plan receive 20% off most services, including implants. Learn more on our insurance and financing page.
Dental implant FAQs
Does getting an implant hurt?
The area is numbed before treatment, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Some soreness for a few days afterward is normal and is usually managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.
How long do dental implants last?
With good home care and regular checkups, the implant post can last for many years and often decades. The crown on top may eventually need replacement due to normal wear.
How long does the whole process take?
Timelines vary, but most cases take a few months from placement to final tooth to allow proper healing. If bone grafting is needed, treatment may take longer.
Will my implant look natural?
Yes. Your crown is custom-made to match the shape and shade of your surrounding teeth.
Does insurance cover implants?
Coverage varies by plan. Our team will check your benefits and give you a clear estimate before treatment begins.
